The results are in for Vrbo’s 2024 Canadian Vacation Homes of the Year, and a stunning cottage retreat in Port Carling, Ont., is the top pick.
Since 2022, Vrbo has awarded its best rental properties with this distinction. The homes are ranked based on criteria including a 4.9 or higher star rating, standout amenities and spaces, premier host status, and positive guest reviews.
This year, Falcon’s Nest—a 6-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom luxury cottage on the shores of scenic Lake Muskoka that sleeps 12—has no shortage of positive reviews at 22 ten-out-of-ten ratings. It also has concierge services; massage and energy healing treatments, a wood-burning hot tub, and complimentary kayaks and paddleboards. Plus, guests enjoy complimentary flowers, local wine and a charcuterie board upon arrival.
The modern yet cozy cottage has a chef’s kitchen overlooking the lake, a large outdoor fireplace, and a boathouse area with dock seating and a mini fridge. At the height of luxury, this rental is perfect for weddings and other special occasions. The average nightly cost is $1908, before taxes. You can find the rental listing here.
